Title: The relationship between university students’ coping strategies, personality, and well-being during COVID-19 restrictions.

You are being invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully and discuss it with others if you wish. Please ask me if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information. Take time to decide whether or not you wish to take part.

What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this study is to investigate the coping strategies university students used during the COVID-19 restrictions, and to investigate how these coping strategies are associated with personality traits and wellbeing in a student population. Previous research has not specifically looked at coping strategies and personality in a student population in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study aims to assess the effectiveness of different coping strategies and to see whether these coping strategies are related to personality, and to investigate the relationship between coping strategies and personality traits, and how effective these coping strategies have been in relation to wellbeing in a student population.

Why have I been chosen?
You have been chosen to take part in this study because you are a higher education student over the age of 18.

Do I have to take part?
No. It is up to you to decide whether to take part. If you decide to take part, you are still free to withdraw at any time up to two weeks after completing the survey without giving a reason.

What will happen to me if I take part?
If you choose to take part, you will complete an online survey. This survey consists of questions about your personality, your wellbeing and your coping style under stressful circumstances. Completing this online survey will take around 15 -20 minutes.

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?
There are no anticipated risks and disadvantages of taking part in this study.

What are the possible benefits of taking part?
There are no direct advantages of taking part in this study however, you will be helping to further research knowledge on wellbeing, personality and coping styles.

Your personal data will be processed so long as it is required for the research project. The results of this study will be presented in a written dissertation, presentation and BPS conference.
